Mai Hac De Festival

maihacdefes.jpgThis is a regional festival in Nghe An Province for commemorating the King Mai Thuc Loan and his son - Mai Thuc Huy.

Place:

- The graves: Dun Mountain, Van Dien Commune, Nam Dan District.

- The temple: At the No 42 dike edge, Mai Hac De Block, small town of Nam Dan.

- Objects of worship: Mai Thuc Loan and his son - Mai Thuc Huy

Time: This festival annually lasts for four days from the 14th to the 16th day of the first lunar month.

The ceremony: lasts for 3 days:

- On the 13th day of the first lunar month: Tidying up ceremony at the grave, temple and the grave of King Mai's mother.

- On the 14th day of the first lunar month: "Yet Cao" ceremony at the grave, temple and the grave of King Mai's mother.

- On the 15th day of the first lunar month: Grand sacrifices-offering ceremony.

- In the morning: all the villages in this region carry palanquin to King Mai Temple to worship according to the royal court ritual.

- In the afternoon: incense offering ceremony at the grave and thanksgiving ceremony at the temple.
The festival:

- It lasts for four days from the 14th day to the 17th day.

- The traditional folk games: Wrestling contest, boat race, van song, doi song, vi song; swinging, flat - pole vault, walking on bridge, striving flag, playing chess... Among these games, boat race is most unique and exciting and the other games such as wrestle, doi song, and swinging are long lasted days.
