Visitors to Phu Quoc Island may not know that Phu Quoc pearls are said to be the best in the country, but they will certainly notice the abundance of pearl stores dotting the island. Despite the fame of Phu Quoc pearls, most pearls sold do not originate there, and are mostly cheaper fresh-water pearls. Connoisseurs say genuine Phu Quoc pearls are scarce and expensive.

Every year thousands of locals and tourists gather in a paddy field in An Giang Province to watch oxen race. This year over 30,000 people came out to watch the 17th Seven Mountains Oxen Race on September 27 in Luong Phi Village, Tri Ton District, An Giang Province. The race is a part of traditional celebrations for the Khmer people’s Dolta Festival, the second largest Khmer festival after Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year).

Traveling along National Road 51 heading for the coastal city of Vung Tau, visitors can catch sight of an intersection on their right hand side laid eight kilometers from the greeting gate of the city. It is the entrance to the commune on Long Son Island where the complex of relic Nha Lon (large house) Long Son, the home of Ong Tran religion, is situated.

A four-star hotel officially opened in Dalat in Lam Dong Province on Monday, helping to relieve the severe shortage of high-standard facilities in the resort city where there are few three-to-five-star hotels.
